Looking to stay in a hotel in the North Atlanta area, Is that a bad area?
IS it by the main attractions, like the aquarium in buckhead or the zoo. We are trying to book this hotel on hotwire, and we dont want to get stuck in a neighborhood where we will get shot... or adult-napped... Well we have discovered it will be more downtown midtown atlanta. Im just not sure, so south of downtown is not a safe area, thanks! any other pointers?

- Crime is everywhere, and you can be a victim at any time. Lately, most of the shootings have been concentrated on the south side. The aquarium and the zoo are not north of the city -- they are in downtown. Post the name & location of the hotel, and I will let you know what I think.
- Well north Atlanta is definately safer than south Atlanta....
- Check out these websites to find a hotel in Atalnta http://www.123world.com/atlanta/atlanta-hotels.php or http://atlanta.nyctourist.com/atlanta-hotels.php good luck!!
- You need to be careful with this one. The zoo and aquarium are no where close to each other. The zoo is in Grant Park (an area that has been gentrified - but if it were my choice I still wouldn't stay there). The aquarium is downtown - I wouldn't recommend staying there if you're traveling as a family (kids). Downtown Atlanta easily turns from a nice touristy area to a "zoo" within foot steps. Namely Five Points train station which is the hub for the subway system here. I worked in a building in close proximity to it for a year, and I tell you I hated to have to walk through that square every day. My suggestion would be to stay in Buckhead, or North Metro Atlanta (Cobb Galleria area, Anything up GA 400 - Roswell, Alpharetta, Perimeter Area). The south side of Atlanta is not a safe place to stay, but the Metro South Side of Atlanta is. There are a slue of hotels near the airport, but restaurants are limited in the area, which is why I suggest North Metro Atlanta. Enjoy your stay!!!
